IBAO Welcomes 2026/2027 Board of Directors

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is pleased to share its 2026/2027 Board of Directors, representing small and large brokerages and more than 18,000 insurance professionals across Ontario. Together, they bring deep industry expertise and a shared commitment to advancing the interests of Ontario's brokerage community. 

“Our Board of Directors continues to bring together fresh perspective and seasoned experience that strengthens our advocacy, sharpens the IBAO’s strategic direction and ensures it remains relevant and effective for Ontario brokers,” said IBAO CEO Colin Simpson. 

Pamela Derksen, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer and Principal Broker at NFP, an Aon Company, has been appointed IBAO President. Derksen joined the IBAO Board in May 2023 and brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience, including leadership roles across commercial underwriting, operations, and national carrier organizations. 

“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to represent Ontario brokers because our members are navigating real challenges from economic volatility to a changing auto product,” said Derksen. “This year our focus is squarely on member support, advocacy, and education that equips brokers to deliver exceptional value to their clients. I look forward to engaging with our membership on the key issues shaping our industry.” 

The IBAO is also pleased to welcome the following Directors to the 2026/2027 Board: 

• Brian Erwin, McDougall Insurance – Eastern Ontario Director (as a returning Director) 

• Khari Gaynor, Bloomfield Insurance Corporation – Skills-Based Director  

• Dorothy Renzi, KRGinsure – Toronto/York/Peel Director 

• Darryl Wolfe, Nacora Insurance Brokers Ltd. – Skills-Based Director 

The Board recognizes two outgoing Directors this term: Crystal Kaustinen, CIP, AIPC, and Sam Jazayeri, Director of Operations at Prime Service, who concludes his three-year term as the Toronto/York/Peel Director. Crystal has been an active leader during her time on the Board, advancing a variety of DEI initiatives, the Young Brokers Council and local affiliates. Sam holds BBA, RIBO, CAIB, and LLQP designations and has also contributed significantly to the Board over his term. 

We sincerely appreciate the time, contributions, and valuable perspective that both Crystal and Sam have brought to the IBAO Board of Directors, and we wish them well in their future endeavours. 

Dario Battista, President of isure, concludes his term as Chair of the IBAO Board. Shara Bierman, 2025/2026 Board President and COO Principal Broker Strong Roots, will continue in the role of Chair.
