Effective July 2026, Ontario’s auto insurance product is changing. Under Ontario Regulation 383/24, amendments to the Insurance Act introduce optionality in the Accident Benefits section of all Ontario auto policies. These changes affect the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), which forms the basis of Section 4 of the Ontario Auto Policy. As a result, most accident benefits that were previously standard will become optional, allowing consumers to choose whether to include them. OAP 1, OPF 2 and OAP 4 policies have been updated accordingly.

In this course, you’ll explore the upcoming changes across seven lessons, including what’s changing, how the updates are reflected in forms and products, and what they mean for consumers. Through videos, interactive activities and real-world scenarios, you’ll gain the knowledge to have informed conversations, address objections and support both Personal & Commercial clients in making well-informed accident benefits decisions.

This course was developed in partnership with the Insurance Institute of Ontario and the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association.
